Let's get together and chat. This is our interview. Ask me questions, share your concerns, tell me a little about you. Let's get to know each other and see if we are a good fit.

We will schedule your first appointment between 8 and 12 weeks where I will take a thorough history, discuss your past pregnancy and birth history, draw all pertinent labs, and assess your overall well-being. We will discuss the role of diet, lifestyle, and education in pregnancy and birth. I will ask about your particular wants and needs for this pregnancy. Then, we will listen to baby!

Prenatal appointments will continue from there every four weeks through the first two trimesters and then progress to every two weeks until 36 weeks, and every week from then until birth. Additional appointments can be scheduled as needed at no extra cost.

At every appointment, your midwife will listen to your concerns, assess your well-being, draw any necessary labs, order ultrasounds as needed, and track baby's growth and well-being.

I will go on call 24/7 from 37 weeks until your birth.

During active labor, I will be with you with two assistants. We will then assist you throughout your labor and delivery. You may labor and have your baby in or out of water, as appropriate.

After birth, while you and your baby are resting and enjoying your golden hour, the birth team will clean up the birth area. I will be with you at least 3 hours after the birth, to ensure everyone is stable and recovering well.

If you require a transfer of care during labor, I will accompany you to the hospital and stay as long as is necessary.

Appointments are scheduled at 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks postpartum. Additional appointments with the midwife are scheduled, as needed, without additional charge.

Routine postpartum care includes:

Virginia State Newborn Metabolic Screening
Critical Congenital Heart Defect Screening
Completion and filing of official birth certificate
Assessment of vitals for mother and baby
Monitoring growth of baby
Assessment of mental and social well-being
Suggestions regarding fertility in the postpartum
Referral for Newborn Hearing Screen
Referrals to address any issues that arise with mother or baby

Up to two visits with a Lactation Counselor are also included in your global birth fee.

Payment Structures & Fees

I offer a global fee for my comprehensive package of prenatal, birth, and postpartum care. Included in that global fee are all prenatal appointments, labor and delivery support, and postnatal appointments up to 6 weeks postpartum.
